“We publish books not ranked in traditional circles in our industry. A genre we refer to as “Cathartic Literature” sometimes referred to as ‘misery lit’ category which is biographical in nature, and usually about the impact of traumatic events in childhood, and the impact of dealing with those experiences.

We consider our focus “cathartic lit” because our writing program experience tells us that these stories are that of catharsis, or discharge of pent-up emotions so as to result in the alleviation of symptoms or the permanent relief of the condition caused by traumatic experiences.

As a publisher, you could say that our Writing for the Soul Workshop™ program fills the need for books about trauma and abuse with deeper meanings to them. Books that leave the reader feeling inspired. Like the caterpillar whose cathartic change becomes the most beautiful of butterflies, our books will leave you inspired and changed, like the authors that penned them.” -Eric Jones, TGiM Digital Publishing

The Bully Diaries by Writing for the Soul Workshop™

Chances are that you experienced bullying in your life. Whether your experience was as a victim, a bystander, or the bully, if you search your memories, you will probably find instances when bullying was a part of your life. For many of us, these experiences have defined us and shaped us. Our experiences made us stronger, and helped us become who we are today.

When you are being bullied, it is hard to think about much more than getting through today. For others, there is no today. Their experience being bullied was too overwhelming, and drove them to a devastating and permanent solution to the temporary pain.

Through a community partnership with Stand for the Silent, Writing for the Soul Workshop has collected stories, letters and poems from youth, teens and adults. The result of this partnership was a platform that gives a voice to over a million men, women and children standing against bullying called Write for the Silent. These stories are pieces of lives impacted by bullying; written to show everyone affected by bullying that you are not alone, that you can survive the experience, that you are somebody.

Removing Chains of Child Abuse by Writing for the Soul Workshop™

The short stories, art and poetry collected in Removing Chains Child of Abuse are from survivors of human trafficking, child abuse and bullying.

This project was made possible through our Community Partnership with Ark of Hope for Children. Ark of Hope is a human rights umbrella organization using a trauma informed approach to serve survivors through various programs. This includes our Writing for the Soul Workshop program.

These powerful stories allowed those who submitted them to experience writing and art as therapy. They give hope to the survivors reading them that they are not alone and they too can recover. This book is packed with resources  for those still suffering, as well as signs to look for if someone suspects that a child is being abused. Book includes journal. Proceeds from book sales benefit Ark of Hope for Children.

Hope Outside The Walls by Writing for the Soul Workshop™

Have you or someone you love, ever been incarcerated?  As a result of America’s decades long war on drugs, the US presently incarcerates over 330,000 prisoners on drug-related charges at an estimated annual cost of $40 billion. This doesn’t include the ongoing costs to society as those that have been touched by the cycle of probation, incarceration and parole work to reintegrate into society, find employment and stay on track with meeting the mandates of probation and parole.

Hope Outside the Walls is a collection of short stories, and memoirs by writers impacted by addiction and incarceration, who are working to reenter society. This project is made possible through our Community Partnership with Texas ReEntry Services. Together, we offer Writing for the Soul Workshop™ Peer Support as a realistic criminal justice  strategy that safely reduces the State’s costly reliance on incarceration– creating stronger families, less taxpayer waste, and safer communities. BONUS! Includes a short story by Paul Kurko, author of the TGIM Best Seller: ‘Issues’!

Stories of Hope by Writing for the Soul Workshop™

This compilation of heart wrenching, and cathartic short stories were written by authors participating in Writing for the Soul Workshop™ around the world.

Through a unique structure offering both engagement -and reward, this workshop brings education and passion together in a way that offers permanent life changing impact. As noted in the forward by educator Sarah Lankford, these unique and amazing individuals received a rare opportunity to share a story they needed to share … and developed a love of writing as a result.

Deep down, do you like helping people? Me too.

The writing program has been effective in schools, churches, Boys & Girls Club, and various other organizations. The impact is the same everywhere we go: many begin the healing process from whatever pain they’re feeling inside. They stop cutting, selling drugs, being promiscuous, bullying, and most importantly, they develop a love of writing to help them process all of their experiences in a healthy way.

Writing for the Soul Workshop™ is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non‐profit arts service organization.
